Why we love Ted Lasso

My wife and I love the award-winning TV series Ted Lasso (2020- ).

Ted Lasso is the feel-good comedy about Ted Lasso – an American – coaching an English soccer team.

Ted knows nothing about soccer, but his folksy charm wins over everyone.

At first, the players don’t believe. But Ted does. And now they believe.

The show contrasts England’s repressed culture with America’s positive shout-out culture of hooting, hollering, and high-fives.

I reckon Jesus is a bit of a Ted Lasso.

We have our own accusers – enemies, Satan, and even ourselves – who tell us we’re no good.

But the Bible says Jesus is our Advocate. He gives us a Shout-Out.

Jesus believes in us so much that he died for us.

And now Jesus wants us to believe.

So the next time Jesus gives you a holy high-five, don’t leave him hanging.
