Why 4 Cups of COFFEE a Day is Never Enough

When I wake up, I have my first cup of coffee, and the buzz is amazing.

Listen to the audible version of this post at: God in Sixty Seconds

At 10am, I have my second cup of coffee. This time there’s some buzz, but not as much as before.

In the afternoon, during a staff meeting, I have my third cup of coffee. But this time there is no buzz.

What’s going on?

My body got used to the coffee. Each cup of coffee delivers less and less each time.

It’s the same with happiness.

Whatever gives us a buzz of happiness, gives us less and less the next time.

It might be a new car, a new job, a new friend.

Whatever it is, we got used to it.

That’s why what we need instead is, not happiness, but purpose.

If we know why we’re here, we will be fulfilled.

But to know why we’re here, we need to know the God who put us here.

And that is a buzz that never goes away.

But don’t let that stop you from having a fourth cup of coffee. You may as well. Because it’s not going to do anything.
